Develop Media Literacy with our ‘Behind the Scenes’ Webinar

In its Media Literacy Framework, the Australian Media Literacy Alliance outlines the skills and understandings necessary for us to critically engage with media. Among others, they highlight the need for media literate citizens to reflect on their own media use, be curious about how media is made, and understand that the media constructs versions of reality. Primary students from across Australia are invited to develop these understandings and more in our upcoming virtual learning event.

In the Are You Tougher than Your Ancestors? webinar, schools will go behind the scenes with the creator, host and cast of this immersive living history series. Creator Vanna Morosini, host Ghenoa Gela, and cast members Jeffrin and Harry from the ‘Milk Run’ episode will answer questions about media careers, experiences on set, and the work that goes into transforming an intial idea into a TV series.

For those new to this unique series, Are You Tougher than Your Ancestors? pits the skills of today’s kids against the exploits of children from Australia’s past, to find out how they measure up. It challenges modern kids to walk in the shoes of a child from another era. The series has been embraced in primary classrooms as it teaches students about people and places from our past in an engaging way.
